MEET VAL, 2020 Graduate
"My name is Valerie Spencer. I am 48 years old, I have two sons 10 years apart, and I have been healed from my addictions by the grace of God. I did not grow up in church and didn’t know Christ as my Savior. As a child we moved a lot so I never learned how to make friends. In order to overcome my inhibitions I started drinking when I was a teenager. Pot was already being grown in our house so to me that was normal. As I got older sex became my weapon and in my late 20's drugs became a way of life.
My battle with drugs was like a roller coaster. I have been arrested 4 times. My last arrest was in September 2018 and I was facing a 65 year prison sentence, but God stepped in and led me to the House of Grace where I was taught through biblical teachings and the guidance of Tammy Tidd and Trinity Chapel that addiction is a heart issue.
Being at the House of Grace changed my life. On August 12th of this year (2020) I will be sober for 2 years. When you allow God to come into your heart and make changes in your way of thinking, you can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens you. I am grateful that God intervened. I am so thankful for the tools and knowledge I gained from being at the House of Grace and to my Aunt Tammy Tidd for showing me God’s Grace. I will carry that knowledge with me for the rest of my life."
